03 / 05 Medicare

Claiming the Medicare rebate

  1. See your GP

Ask for a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral to a psychologist. Your GP can do this in person or by telehealth.

  2. Book your session

Send me the referral and we'll find a time. Telehealth sessions attract the same rebate as sessions in person.

  3. Get money back

You pay the fee on the day and I lodge the claim. The $101.55 rebate goes straight into your bank account.

The rebate covers up to 10 sessions each calendar year. Your GP reviews your plan after the first sessions to confirm you can continue.

04 / 05 Funded sessions

WorkCover, insurers and NDIS

  • WorkCover Queensland

Approved sessions are billed to WorkCover or your employer's insurer at their set rates, so there's usually nothing for you to pay (to confirm).

  • Other insurers and employer programs

Billed to the insurer or employer once they approve sessions.

  • NDIS (self-managed or plan-managed)

Charged at the NDIS price limit for therapy supports.

  • Psychological assessments

Quoted before we start, based on the tests and report needed.

05 / 05 Payment and cancellations

Good to know

  • Payment

Payment is taken at the end of each session by card. For Medicare clients, the rebate is processed straight away and paid into your bank account, usually within a day or two.

  • Cancellations

Please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed, may be charged in full (to confirm). Medicare does not cover missed sessions.

  • Private health insurance

Some extras policies cover psychology. You can claim either Medicare or your health fund for a session, not both, so check with your fund first.
