04 / 06 Referral pathways
Choose the right pathway
WorkCover Queensland main focus
For patients with an accepted or pending WorkCover claim for a work-related injury, including psychological injury. I'm a registered WorkCover Queensland provider and spent 8 years in occupational rehabilitation, so treatment plans and reports are written with return to work, the claim and the case manager in mind.
Registration with workers' compensation schemes in other states is underway (to confirm). Please get in touch to check for a claim outside Queensland.
Include the claim number and case manager details. I liaise with the case manager on approvals and reporting.
Other insurers and employer programs
CTP (MAIC), income protection and life insurers, and employer-funded programs. The insurer or employer approves sessions; please include the claim or approval number.
Medicare (Better Access)
Refer with a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Eligible patients can claim Medicare rebates for a set number of sessions each calendar year. I'll send a progress report in time for your plan review.
Private and self-referral
Patients can book directly without a referral. Those with private health insurance extras cover may get a partial refund from their fund.

06 / 06 Common questions
Questions GPs ask
Who is a good fit for referral?
Adults with work-related psychological injury, workplace stress, adjustment after injury, trauma, anxiety or depression, as well as a wide range of other concerns. See who I support.
Is telehealth suitable for my patient?
For most adults, yes. Sessions run by secure video from home. If telehealth isn't suitable, I'll let you know and suggest alternatives.
How soon will my patient be seen?
I contact new referrals within 2 business days and offer the first available appointment (placeholder, to confirm).
How can I send referrals securely?
By email or the online form. Secure messaging details (for example HealthLink) are to be confirmed.
What if my patient is at immediate risk?
This is not a crisis service. For urgent support, contact your local mental health crisis service or Lifeline on 13 11 14 (in Queensland, 1300 MH CALL: 1300 642 255). In an emergency, call 000.
